Swinging Around
The kids are really enjoying the backyard... and today our fence was completed so we're safe from all the local wildlife..including a pesky armadillo that was tearing up the lawn.
Hayden's prize!
Hayden and Sydney both made the honor roll this semester and Hayden's reward for all his hard work was this Lego Star Wars MTT Trade Federation. It has over 1300 peices and it took Hayden 7 hours to complete! In true Hayden form, he wouldn't go to sleep until it was finished sometime after midnight! (Many thanks to Dad for staying up to help!) Anyone who has spoken to Hayden in the last 4 months has heard every detail about this ship and how he couldn't wait to get it...so here it is complete with all is many moving parts.

Hayden's New Loook
Doesn't he look handsome in his new glasses? We're so proud of Hayden for being such a good sport about getting glasses. He did a great job at the eye doctor and we were able to come home with his new Spongebob glasses only a few short minutes after the exam. He says they "feel funny" and they bother him a little bit, but he is definitely seeing more clearly. He was reading every sign on the way home as if he was seeing things he had never seen before. He says he doesn't mind his glasses so much because some of his favorite people wear them like Grandad and Emily. We all wish him a great day at school tomorrow with his new look! Imagine all the new things he'll be able to see in the classroom!

Little Red Schoolhouse
Yesterday Hayden's class went on a field trip to the Little Red Schoolhouse. It's a historic one room schollhouse and the kids spent the day learning first hand what it would have been like to to go to school there back in 1921. It was very interesting and the kids really enjoyed it. They did their reading and math with chalk on a slate, made a craft and ate biscuits for snack. They also played some fun old fashioned games at "recess". It was great to see the kids having so much fun living the simple life. Hayden had a good time and he even ate a biscuit!
Today Rob finished the platform for the kids' treehouse. A few minor finishing touches like a railing and a roof and we can send the kids to live outside! Casey watched very intenetly overseeing the project and testing all materials, tools ...and extension cords..yikes!) with her teeth to be sure they were satisfactory. The kids will be thrilled when it is complete..it will be an American Girl dollhouse for Syd and a Star Wars fort for Hayden. I'm not quite sure how the decor will work out for that.. maybe the dolls can go camo!
